The Financial Ombudsman Institution (FOI) is an independent incorporated foundation to fairly, reasonably, and effectively resolve disputes between financial consumers and financial services enterprises.

FOI Organizational Chart

The Organizational Chart of the Financial Ombudsman Institution (FOI) indicates that:

  1. The FOI operates under the supervision of a Board of Directors. Board members are appointed by the FSC from among scholars, practitioners, and other impartial persons with expertise in financial services. Pursuant to the FCPA, no director or member of the Board of Directors shall intervene in the process of individual.
  2. The supervisor is appointed by the FSC from among scholars, practitioners, and other impartial persons with expertise in financial services . Pursuant to the FCPA, no supervisor shall intervene in the process of an individual ombudsman case.
  3. The FOI has established an Ombudsman Committee in accordance with the FCPA. All members are selected from among scholars, practitioners, and other impartial persons with relevant expertise or professional experience, and all are appointed after their nominations have been approved by the FSC. The Committee currently comprises 20 Committee members, one of whom is the Committee Chair.
  4. The FOI comprises 3 departments, 10 divisions, and others as follows:
    1. I.Dispute Resolution Department: including Ombudsman Division 1 to 4, Complaint Management Division and Mediation Division;
    2. II.Education and Planning Department: including Education and Planning Division and Consumer Service Division;
    3. III.Administration Department: including Finance Division and Administrative Division;
    4. IV.Others: Audit Team.
